COMMON INSTALLATION MISTAKES

DIY WOOD BASE

When wood sits directly on concrete, pavers, or soil, moisture becomes trapped underneath, accelerating deterioration and rot. Even if level initially, seasonal ground movement, freeze–thaw cycles, and settling can cause the platform to shift and become uneven over time.

SHIMMING

Most manufacturers will void your warranty if your hot tub is shimmed during installation. Shimming creates concentrated stress on the shell, increasing the risk of structural cracks and damage to jets and plumbing.

GROUND CONTACT

When the base of your hot tub sits directly on the ground, there is little to no airflow underneath, so moisture cannot evaporate. This creates a damp, oxygen-rich environment—ideal conditions for mold and rot.

PLASTIC PADS

Plastic pads do not level your tub or add structural strength—they simply transfer the load to whatever is underneath. Most plastic pads are hollow or molded structures designed to distribute weight, but they can still flex slightly increasing stress to your shell and frame.
