The Spa Level-R offers an ideal solution for those looking to enhance the stability, safety, and longevity of their hot tub setup.
Here’s why you should consider using The Spa Level-R for your wooden deck:
- Deck installation can be accomplished when using the proper material and installation procedures.
What we want to focus on is the static load. This load remains constant or changes very slowly over time. It is a non-moving load that does not exert dynamic or fluctuating forces on the structure. Generally, a static load of a 5/4 deck with 16” joist spacing will allow 350 to 400 pounds of concentrated load at a single point (like a person standing on it) without bending or breaking.
Typical deck material and construction is 5/4 deck boards with 16” joist spacing.
If we were to bring the joist distances closer, we would see the following result:
- 12” spacing we can expect to see a 10-15% increase in weight capacity
- 8” spacing we can expect to see another additional increase of 10-15% in the weight capacity
As always, consult with a local contractor before placing your hot tub on a deck to ensure it is built to withstand the static load (combined dry weight and water weight) of your tub.
In the example below, we showcase an 84″x84″ hot tub installed on a 89″x89″ deck. One key advantage of using The Spa Level-R to level your hot tub on a deck is its custom design, tailored to meet your specific needs. Here, we demonstrate how, with 16″ on-center deck joists, we can retrofit our platform to ensure that the required number of leg levelers are in place to both support the weight of your hot tub and maintain a safe, level installation.
